What are Chevening Scholarships?

How Much is a Chevening Scholarship Worth?
Chevening scholarships are made to cover the awardee’s full cost of studying in the UK. It
incudes:
Full payment of the awardee’s Masters tuition fees, up to 18,000 Euros.- Travel expenses to and from the UK.
- Monthly stipend to cover housing and living costs. The monthly stipend will differ and will depend on whether the awardee studies in or outside of London. If he or she studies outside of London, then they will receive £917 per month, and if they reside within London, it is £1134 per month (subject to annual review).
- The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application for the awardee only
- A departure allowance
- A contribution of up to £75 for TB testing, strictly for where this is required
- A travel top up allowance

Applications close on November 1, at 12:00 GMT
The deadline to submit and receive at least one unconditional offer from a UK university is July 13, 2023, at 17:00 BST (UK time).
On 2nd November, 2022, Applications are screened against eligibility requirements.
From mid-November to December 2022, All qualified applications are evaluated by impartial
reading committees. The local high commissions or embassies of the United Kingdom are then informed of their results and rankings.

Fields of study/Courses
As an applicant, you will be required to select three different master’s courses. These can be
either three different courses at different institutions or three different courses at the same
institution. Overall, the total number of courses you can apply for and institutions you can apply
to is restricted to three each.To maximize your chances of getting accepted into one of these
universities, it is advised that you choose three courses that are comparable at three separate
universities.
Course titles do not have to exactly match, but the substance of all three courses should be
identical. You should choose courses that align with your present or future professional
aspirations. Choose your courses carefully and ensure to carry out thorough research on
schools before applying to them. One of the reasons you must do this is because it will be
difficult to make changes later. You will need to apply directly to your selected university as soon
as possible to ensure you get admitted. To get a scholarship award, you must have gotten an
unconditional offer for one of your course choices before the scholarship’s deadline.The courses
you select must be full-time in order for you to be eligible, and:
-begin in the fall semester (often in September or October)
- -a master’s class (i.e. not research-focused MRes programmes)
- -lead to the completion of a master’s degree
- -situated in the UK
No courses may be:
- -Part-time
- -Distance learning
- -period of less than nine months
- -greater than 12 months in length
- DPhil or a PhD
- -taught after spending more than a month studying abroad in the UK
Number of awards per year
There are 1500 scholarship awards available every year.
Who can apply for chevening scholarship ?
If you want to be considered for a Chevening Scholarship, you must:
-Have citizenship in a nation or territory that qualifies for Chevening.
-After your award has expired, you must go back to your home country for a minimum of two
years.
-Have finished all requirements for an undergraduate degree by the time you submit your
application, allowing you to enroll in a postgraduate study at a UK university. This is normally
similar to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK, though your programme of study
and university of choice may cause this to vary.
-Possess a minimum of 2,800 hours (two years) of job experience.
By July 13, 2023, you must have applied to three different qualified UK university programs and
have received an unconditional offer from one of them.
In order to be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, you must not:
-Possess British or dual citizenship (barring citizenship of a British Overseas Territory or
possession of BN(O) and application from Hong Kong).
-Hold refugee status in a nation not covered by the Chevening criteria. Scholarships are
available to applicants who are citizens of Chevening-eligible nations or who are recognized as
refugees in one of those nations.
-Are currently employed by, were previously employed by, or are related to an employee of Her
Majesty’s Government (including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, all British
Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defense, the Department for
Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, and the
UKVI), the British Council, or a sponsoring UK university.
Workers, ex-employees, and relatives* of employees of Chevening Partner organizations are
allowed to apply, but if the employment occurred within the last two years, you cannot earn a
Chevening Partner Award from the organization from which you work, previously worked, or are
related.
-Formerly received financial aid from a scholarship provided by the UK government to study in
the country.
