The Data Modeler is responsible for creating and managing data models that support the migration of data sources to Snowflake as part of a project. While Snowflake experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, but familiarity with the platform would be advantageous. The Data Modeler will work closely with stakeholders, data architects, and developers to understand data requirements and design efficient data models that align with the overall data architecture.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with data architects and stakeholders to gather data requirements and understand the existing data landscape.
  • Design logical and physical data models that support the migration of data sources to Snowflake, ensuring scalability, performance, and data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain data models, entity-relationship diagrams, and data dictionaries for the project.
  • Validate and optimize data models to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage.
  • Collaborate with developers and database administrators to implement data models and schemas in Snowflake or other relevant data platforms.
  • Ensure data models adhere to data governance policies and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Data Architect and development team to design and implement data integration and transformation processes.
  • Participate in data modeling and architecture reviews to identify areas of improvement and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Provide support and guidance to the development team regarding data modeling and database design principles.
  • Document data model design decisions, assumptions, and dependencies for future reference.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Data Modeler or similar role, with a strong understanding of data modeling principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or other data warehouse platforms is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AWS and experience working with AWS data sources is a plus.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modeling tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate business requirements into efficient data models.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and integrity.
  • Understanding of data governance practices and data security principles.
